Amazon Expands Smart Home Hub Lineup Echo Show 21 Upgraded 15

Amazon has introduced the Echo Show 21 and an upgraded Echo Show 15, expanding its smart display lineup with larger screens, improved audio and video capabilities, and deeper smart home controls. The Echo Show 21 is the largest Echo display to date, with nearly twice the display area of the Echo Show 15. Both devices are designed to serve as household organizers, entertainment hubs, and central controllers for connected devices.

Display and audio upgrades

The Echo Show series is built around the combination of voice interaction and on-screen visual information. The new Echo Show 21 features the largest display in the Echo line, offering almost double the viewing area of the Echo Show 15. An upgraded audio system includes spatial adaptation technology, while bass performance is described as twice as strong as before.

The larger screen and revised speaker system are intended to support immersive video and audio experiences. The Echo Show 15 also receives upgrades as part of the refreshed lineup, maintaining its role as a wall-mountable home organizer.

Camera and communication improvements

Amazon has updated the auto-framing camera on the new models, more than doubling its field of view and increasing zoom capability by 65 percent. According to the company, the wider range helps keep users in frame even while they move around a kitchen or other room during video calls.

New noise reduction technology is designed to filter background distractions, improving clarity in conversations. The changes are aimed at making video calls more reliable in busy home environments.

Smart home control and connectivity

The Echo Show 15 and Echo Show 21 function as smart home controllers as well as displays. Both include a built-in smart home hub with support for Matter, Wi-Fi, Thread, and Zigbee. Local control is intended to allow faster responses when adjusting compatible lights, plugs, and switches.

The devices are among the first Echo products to support Wi-Fi 6E, a connectivity standard intended to improve streaming performance. The combination of hub functions and wireless protocols positions the displays as central points for managing connected home devices.

Personalization and entertainment

Customizable on-screen widgets allow users to view family calendars, shopping lists, and to-do items. The addition of AI-enhanced search enables content discovery through natural language descriptions of a theme, actor, or plot.

The devices also support cross-device continuity. A Prime Video title started on an Echo Show in one room can be transferred to a Fire TV in another room for continued viewing. The features reflect a broader push to combine household management and entertainment on a single display.
